My Nike Lunar Glide Experience
Remember the Nike Running Club SG runs I attend every 1st and 3rd Wednesday? They are usually held at Wisma Atria, which is, by the way, debatably the largest Nike Store they have in Singapore. Anyway, when I went down for my run on 1st July, I headed straight for the product trials after depositing my bag.
Why so excited? Because 1st of July was the date of launch of the new Nike Lunar Glides. Not long ago, (actually a month after the Nike+ Human Race) we saw the launch of the Lunar Racers.
Not only was it the epitomy of style, the Racers were also extremely comfortable for high arched runners. Considering how the crowd went beserk when the emcees from the Human Race Concert threw these at the crowd as gifts, it’s not hard to imagine why stocks depeleted at amazing speed when it first hit the stores. Even at the previous Sundown, the champion for the Ultramarathon came in with these babies strapped to her feet. (:
So that’s how amazing the Lunar Racers are. The Glides are even better.
The Lunar Glides have multiple functions such as the lack of a side stitching to help prevent abrasion from the shoe, some shoe tech thing to help women runners run better. But I think the best feature it has is its cushioning function. For a mildly flat footed person, I need quite a bit of cushioning and stepping into these shoes were like stepping on clouds.
AWESOME STUFF.
So yes, the Nike folks kinda allowed us to trial the brand new shoes on their launching day and everyone leapt at the opportunity.
It was pretty cool seeing everyone in the same shoes. Almost everyone, anyway.
The run towards Botanic gardens was good, as always. (: However, on the way back, I started feeling a blister forming on the left side of my right foot. That pain was accompanied by an unexpected stitch, so yeah. The run back sucked :/ Ah well, can’t expect all runs to turn out great right.
But I can always expect the company to be awesome, when I run with this group of people. I’m getting pretty excited with the fact that they’re recognizing me now! Haha, indication that I’m becoming a ‘regular’
The people I run with are the Team Fatbird group, who serve as the pacers and leaders of the running group. They are extremely supportive and always make our runs a lot more enjoyable by striking half-panting chats and conversations, or encouraging us along the dreaded slopes of the Botanical gardens.
Running alone may be fun sometimes. But running with company is always the best.
PS: After talking to one of the fellas from Nike, Sasha, we deduced that my shoe size was too small. Hence, the blister. (: On 5th of July, I tried a size bigger, and felt complete numbness on my right foot. (it’s always the right foot!) Spoke to him about it too, and we settled on the grounds that the Lunar Glides are not for everyone. (: Even if it IS incredibly pretty. ):

Can ask you if the Lunar Glide is gd since you got wear and run with it.
It depends on what kinda foot type you have? If you have a mildly flat foot, you could give the glides a try. They give pretty good support; can feel the extent of cushioning they’ve added to the shoes once you sink your feet into them. As a normal running shoe, the cutting of the shoe makes it slightly larger than its Nike counterparts, so you might have to downsize a little from your normal size.
Overall, its pretty comfortable for regular runners! But you’re intending to train with these, you should probably ask someone who’s been using it frequently. I hope that helps!
Ok. Thanks!
I am a new runner and I really like to give lunar glide a try but it a bit expensive (to just try it) I have flat feet, 185 lbs with 5′4″ height and currently I am using Adistar Control but even before 5km, my left shin already starts to hurt although manageable, both my calves are getting tighter. So im thinking of changing shoes. But ive read that lunar glide are not good for flat feet, any recommendation?
